About Cincinnati CFO Owner Jarrett Paynter
Jarrett is a proud Cincinnatian who has a passion for all the area has to offer and could not imagine raising his family anywhere else. Having lived in several other areas of the country during his career, Jarrett knows the unique culture of Cincinnati leads to honest, hard-working, innovative people and businesses that create jobs and take care of their community.
After high school, Jarrett traveled South to attended Clemson University in South Carolina. After college, Jarrett moved back to Cincinnati to work with Fifth Third Bank. When he started with the bank it had around $10 billion dollars in assets, when he left in 2016, they had grown to well over $100 billion. Jarrett was able to attend UC at night to obtain an MBA in Finance while working for Fifth Third.
Throughout his career at Fifth Third Jarrett was blessed to take on many challenging roles and projects. After spending his first few years gaining experience in various finance roles, Jarrett was promoted to a finance leadership role in Chicago. It was in Chicago that Jarrett first developed a passion for working with small business owners and understanding their unique needs. Stints as the Regional CFO of Lexington and Detroit soon followed and it was in Detroit, during 2008, that Jarrett experienced the challenges that small businesses can face through a tough economy and how financial stress impacts families, businesses and employees.
Jarrett was asked to take on the CFO role for a new Fifth Third division formed in late 2008 tasked with working with clients through those challenging times. In this role Jarrett and his team worked with businesses of all sizes to create creative solutions to optimize business performance, structure and processes. Working long hours, side by side with business owners to find ways to succeed ultimately led to the creation of Cincinnati CFO and its mission to develop relationships with determined small business owners and help them reach their goals.
In 2011, Jarrett was diagnosed with Leukemia and had to step away from the bank for 6 months. Winning that fight required Faith, the love and support of family & friends along with amazing doctors and nurses. It was a blessing in some ways as it allowed for time of reflection and life goal prioritization. Jarrett is now a proud Executive Committee board member of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, serving as Treasurer of the South West Ohio Chapter.
Jarrett went back to work at Fifth Third and ended his tenure there as the Payments Division CFO in 2016. After Fifth Third, Jarrett co-owned and operated a small business. After selling his ownership, he is still active with the business today partnering on finance, strategy and special projects.
Jarrett started Cincinnati CFO in 2017 based on his passion for small business. After spending 20 years in the corporate world he wanted to spend more time developing relationship as well as giving back to our local community.
The vision for Cincinnati CFO is to spend 20% of our time providing pro-bono advice and services to non-profits and true start-ups to help our community, improve lives and grow jobs.
Jarrett lives in Kenwood, has two wonderful children, Jack and Ava who are his life, and a dog Tilli (who was his life before children).
