Meet the Owner of Cincinnati CFO:

Jarrett Paynter

About Cincinnati CFO Owner Jarrett Paynter

Jarrett is a proud Cincinnatian who has a passion for all the area has to offer and could not imagine raising his family anywhere else. Having lived in several other areas of the country during his career, Jarrett knows that the unique culture of Cincinnati produces honest, hard-working, innovative people and businesses that create jobs and take care of their community.

After high school, Jarrett traveled South to attended Clemson University in South Carolina. After college, Jarrett moved back to Cincinnati to work with Fifth Third Bank. When he started it had around $10 billion dollars in assets, when he left in 2016, they had grown to well over $100 billion. While working, Jarrett was able to attend The University of Cincinnati at night to obtain an MBA in Finance while working for Fifth Third.

Throughout his career at Fifth Third Jarrett was blessed to take on many challenging roles and projects. After spending his first few years gaining experience in various finance roles, Jarrett was promoted to a finance leadership role in Chicago. While in Chicago, Jarrett first developed a passion for working with small business owners and understanding their unique needs. Roles as the Regional CFO of Lexington and Detroit soon followed. During 2008 in Detroit, Jarrett experienced the challenges that small businesses can face through a tough economy and how financial stress impacts families, businesses and employees.

In 2008, Jarrett was asked to take on the CFO role for a new Fifth Third division working with clients through those challenging times. In this position, Jarrett and his team worked with businesses of all sizes to create creative innovative solutions to optimize business performance, structure and processes. He worked long hours side by side with business owners to find ways to succeed. This ultimately led to the creation of Cincinnati CFO and its mission to develop relationships with determined small business owners and help them reach their goals.

In 2011, Jarrett was diagnosed with Leukemia and had to step away from the bank for 6 months. Winning that fight required Faith, the love and support of family & friends along with amazing doctors and nurses. It was a blessing in some ways as it allowed for time of reflection and life goal prioritization.  Today Jarrett is a proud Executive Committee board member of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, serving as Treasurer of the South West Ohio Chapter.

Jarrett went back to work at Fifth Third and ended his tenure there as the Payments Division CFO in 2016.  After Fifth Third, Jarrett co-owned and operated a small business. After selling his ownership, he is still active with the business today partnering on finance, strategy and special projects.

Jarrett started Cincinnati CFO in 2017 based on his passion for small business.  After spending 20 years in the corporate world he wanted to spend more time developing relationship as well as giving back to our local community.

Spending at least 10% of our time providing free support to non-profits that improve lives and enhance our community is part of our vision for Cincinnati CFO.

Jarrett lives in Kenwood, has two wonderful children, Jack and Ava who are his life, and a dog Tilli (who was his life before children).

His interests include:

  • Faith – Spiritual Growth, volunteering and fellowship
  • Family – Jarrett’s Parents and Sister live in Cincinnati and it’s a joy to see them with Jack and Ava.
  • All things local – heading out around Cincinnati with friends and family to restaurants, parks, local bars and activities with the kids.
